Terminally Ill Children’s Fund helps Kids be Kids Again!
January 30th, 2013 by Brian Maiorana
Over 27,000 kids are diagnosed every year with life threatening illnesses. From the day they receive their diagnosis until the end of their struggle, everyday is a fight for life, and this fight takes a toll on not just their body, but their spirits. Terminally Ill Children’s Fund and its director Brian Maiorana wanted to find a way to help in whatever small way we could, and eventually we found an organization in Ohio called “A Kid Again” that is doing amazing work with terminally ill children.
“Where a child with a life threatening illness is…A Kid Again!”
The motto of the organization perfectly sums up what they do. To date, they have helped over 1,600 families through three programs:
- Family Adventures
- Hospital Visitation
- Parent’s Night Out
Family adventures offer children, siblings and parents a cost free occasion to enjoy quality time together and to create lasting memories. Hospital visitation provides a cadre of volunteers (bearing toys and activities, of course!) to children confined to a hospital room. Parent’s Night Out offers a brief respite from the emotional and physical stresses of dealing with a terminally ill child by providing childcare and planned activities for parents.
The Terminally Ill Children’s Fund and director Brian Maiorana are proud to financially support “A Kid Again” as it serves terminally ill children and their families all across the great state of Ohio.
