The Good Charity Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Patient Support Fund

At Good Charity Inc. we are passionate about helping those in need not only with treatment, but also with their quality of life and the support of their family members in caring for them. One of our goals is to remove the added layer of stress caused by financial worries for those who are suffering and in need of help.
With the above in mind, we recently launched a fund called the Good Charity Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Patient Support Fund at the University of Minnesota. We see it is as a wonderful complement to our existing Children’s Leukemia of America Fund.
Over the past several weeks Good Charity team members have been working closely with the university in order to assure that donations given to the fund will be used wisely and in the spirit of our aims as a non-profit. The result is a summarisation of the fund’s purposes as follows:
The purpose of the Good Charity Pediatric Leukemia/Lymphoma Patient Support Fund is to provide financial assistance for pediatric leukemia/lymphoma patients undergoing cancer treatment and/or care at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital.
Financial support for patients and their immediate family may include, but need not be limited to, the following: travel, meals, lodging, support for out-of-pocket drug expenses and co-pays, mortgage/rent/utilities, childcare costs, and caregiver respite services.
Prior to any disbursements being made, the department of Social Work, University of Minnesota will perform a confidential assessment of the patient’s family needs, advise them of the options available, and guide them accordingly.
We are delighted that we will be able to contribute to the wellbeing of patients at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital by supporting both them and their families.
